The Hearing Assessment
A series of questions about your hearing and general health, enabling us to establish any possible links between your general health, medical history and level of hearing.
Allows us time to discuss the health of your hearing and the difficulties you are having, along with which environments/conditions you are struggling under and how this is impacting on your lifestyle.
Examination of the External Auditory Meatus/ Ear canal, the Tympanic Membrane/ Ear drum and Pinna/ Outer ear, to ascertain its condition and health.
The hearing test allows us to establish the softest sounds you can hearing in each ear. Using calibrated equipment and headphones/bone conduction transducer we will measure the softest sounds you can hear and then compare your results to a normally hearing person. This enables us to compare your degree of hearing/loss to someone with normal hearing. The results will tell us if your hearing is deficient and if so what type and degree of deficiency is present.
Discussing the Results
At this stage of the consultation we will discuss the results of the hearing test together, providing an understanding of the type and degree of loss (if a loss is present), how this relates back to the difficulties you are having and if any medical referral for further investigation is required. If no referral is required then we will discuss together how Hearing Aids can improve your overall quality of hearing.
Hearing Aid demonstration
In the last stage of the consultation, we will configure a test system suitable to correct the degree of deficiency, which will enable you to hear the difference that amplification will make to your overall quality of hearing. Lastly we will discuss the most suitable solution to resolve the difficulties you are having.
